Experiencing the Magic of the Solar Eclipse: Navigating the Do's and Don'ts Safely and Joyfully"

On 19th – 20th of April, 2023 we are being blessed by a beautiful celestial phenomenon, the hybrid solar eclipse. A hybrid solar eclipse is a rare celestial event that creates annular or total solar eclipses based on your location. It occurs when the Moon partially covers the Sun, creating an annular eclipse in some parts of the world and a total eclipse in some regions of the world, with the Moon aligning perfectly with the Sun. This means that during a hybrid solar eclipse, the eclipse transitions from being an annular eclipse to a total eclipse, or vice versa, along different sections of the eclipse path. This eclipse also happens once in a decade; the last time we witnessed it was in 2013.

Time for Alignment

Eclipses have been regarded as a very powerful event for cultures for centuries. This is when the Sun, Moon and Earth are in perfect alignment. This is also the time when it shakes everything that is no longer in alignment with you, forcing you to get in alignment with who you are as a being. Its purpose is to eliminate everything that no longer serves you anymore.
We have come up with a few dos and don’ts to help you to use the power of the solar eclipse to live your best life:

Do’s During Solar Eclipse

Obserse Fast

Fasting during a solar eclipse can be a really powerful experience. This ritual has been passed down from generation to generation in the Vedic cultures as a way to respect and honour solar energy.

Meditate during the eclipse

Meditating during a solar eclipse is believed to have a profound effect on one’s spiritual journey. The eclipse is seen as a powerful time for introspection, inner healing, and connecting with the divine. It is believed that the energy of the eclipse amplifies the benefits of meditation, making it an ideal time for spiritual growth and transformation.

You can also meditate along with vedic mantras to help you raise in the frequency of this eclipse and the Universe:

Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra.

Meaning of this mantra: We worship the Three-Eyed One (Lord Shiva), the creator and destructor of the Universe. May I be liberated from the bondage of this Samsara and the illusion of death. I’m part of the Lord; I am myself, infinite.

Surya Beej Mantra

Meaning of this mantra: Om Suraya Namaha means Expellor of the darkness.
Today, on this special occasion, let’s dedicate our hearts and souls to Surya Deva. Let’s call upon Surya Deva’s energy and cultivate gratitude for Him, as no life on Earth would be possible without Him. Let’s show gratitude to Him and create more magick on this Earth by immersing ourselves in this manta.

Mantra benefits: Surya mantra enhances your wisdom and intelligence to help you achieve everything you want. It will also help you soak up the incredible healing power of the Sun and strengthen every cell in your body.

How to meditate during a solar eclipse:

  1. Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.
  2. Repeat this three times.
  3. Bring your hand to your hand in Anjali Mudra and chant this mantra silently in your mind or aloud if you wish.
  4. You can chant as much as you want. There are no limitations on how many times you have to chant this mantra. This version is 108 Times.

Do Surya Namaskar. Wake up early and do a sun salutation to honour the Sun God. We are here only because of Him; no life would exist without Him.

Dance. Dance can be a breathtaking way to release all the stagnant energy collected in your body.

Practice Gratitude. Gratitude is beautiful; let’s feel gratitude for who you are. Feel grateful for the Sun, Moon and Earth. We are exactly where we need to be.

Don’ts during Solar Eclipse

There are some things that you should not do during the eclipse:

Do not look at the eclipse directly. Looking directly at the Sun can cause temporary or permanent damage to the eye’s retina, known as solar retinopathy.

Do not eat during the eclipse. According to Vedic traditions, there won’t be any sunlight during this time, the number of bacteria might increase and be active, and it may result in some change in the nutritional value of the food item.

If you are pregnant, please do not go outside. Direct rays of the Sun or Moon may affect babies’ development while the eclipse is happening.

Fun fact: Did you know that Einstein’s famous theory of relativity got verified only because of the solar eclipse?
