Questions about use of music

Can I use your music in my projects?

No. Unfortunately our music is currently available for personal use only. It is not available for use in any commercial as well as non-commercial projects.

This includes our music that is available on Youtube, our Online Store, Gumroad, Apple Music, CDBaby, Spotify, Amazon, Tidal and other online music streaming and distribution platforms.

Can I use your music to teach an in-person yoga class? What about online class via Zoom, Skype. Are there any restrictions, I should be aware of?

Yes. You can play our music via any available sources(Youtube, Spotify etc) and use it as background for your real world class as well as online class rooms via Zoom, Skype or other softwares for distance learning etc. Just make sure that recordings of any such class are not made available on any platforms in any form. This includes recordings made by any of the attendees too. It’s a good idea to let attendees know, beforehand, that recordings of any kind are not permitted.

I have purchased your music from official store/gumroad/cdbaby, does that give me permission to use it in my projects?

No, Music on our website’s official store as well as on any other platform is made available for personal use only. It is not available for any commercial as well as non-commercial use.

Is your music available under Creative Commons License or CC License?

Currently none of our music is available under CC License.

Is your music copyright free?

No. All our music is copyrighted. Many people refer to the music available under public domain as copyright free.  Currently none of our music is available in public domain, and it is not copyright free.

Is your music royalty free?

No. Our music is not available as royalty free. We are member of APRA in Australia, which acts as our international royalty collection agency.

Can I re-upload your youtube videos/ music on my youtube channel?

No, it infringes our copyrights as well as it is against youtube policies. Also, the channel with reuploaded content might get a copyright strike and even risks termination. Following scenarios are also considered as copyright violation under youtube policies and can result in a copyright strike.

  • You have given credit to the Artist, or have written statements such as “no-copyright infringement intended”
  • Manipulating audio, such as pitching it up and down, mixing it with other audios or nature sounds
  • Manipulating video, such as removing, masking Meditative Mind’s branding, or photo manipulation of any kind
  • Using a small portion of the music/video.
Can I sample your music and distribute it in a digital album, and sell it through a distributor like iTunes, CDBaby, Tunecore, Spotify, Distrokid or Amazon?

No. Each of those distributors and other similar music retailers require you own 100% of the copyrights to the pieces you publish. If you attempt this, you will likely get a cease and desist letter and lose all the money you made and never be able to sell music on those sites ever again. If you have more questions – contact the legal departments at those distributors, or your local copyright attorney.

Can I play your music in the Background of my Spa, Yoga Studio etc

Surely, you can.

Can I use FridayFreeDownloads in my projects?

No. Friday Free Downloads are also offered for personal use only.

Questions about music stores

How can I find a particular youtube video music on your official store?

We have made it super simple to search any music via Youtube Videos ID search. You can get the youtube video id from the youtube url. The video ID will be located in the URL of the video page, right after the v= URL parameter.

In this case, the URL of the video is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goyZbut_KFY  Therefore, the ID of the video is goyZbut_KFY.

How to get a YouTube video ID from a youtu.be short URL

The youtu.be URLs are created by generating a URL intendend for sharing. They differ slightly from youtube.com URLs because there are no URL parameters. Instead, the video ID is part of the URL itself.
