Benefits of Balancing 7 Chakras : How to do Chakra Meditation

When all our chakras are opened, the energy evens out and becomes balanced. Learn how to balance each of our 7 Chakras.

There are seven main chakras in all; four in our upper body, which govern our mental properties, and three in the lower body, which govern our instinctual properties. The names are Muladhara (root) chakra, Svadhisthana (sacral) chakra, Manipura (solar plexus) chakra, Anahata(heart) chakra,Visuddhi (throat) chakra, Ajna (third eye) chakra and Sahasrara (crown) chakra. Generally some of our chakras are not opened, means they are operating just like when we were born. If we want to be at peace with ourselves, the balances of chakras are must. When all our chakras are opened, the energy evens out and becomes balanced.

1. Balancing Root Chakra: If the root chakra is not opened one feels unbalanced, insensible, unstable and insecure. The person whose root chakra is opened, is very much connected to the physical body and trusts people around him/her. If it is unbalanced/under-active, one feels nervous and fearful. In some people Root Chakra is overactive; those people are generally greedy and attached to the material things. So, there is need to balance the Root Chakra. Yoga and physical exercises help in balancing the chakra.
• After some stretching, sit across legged or on chair with your eyes closed.
• Touch the tip of your index finger with the tip of your thumb gently.
• Start breathing slowly and deeply.
• Concentrate on Root Chakra, at the spot between the genitals and anus.
• Chant “LAM”. and do till you feel yourself relaxed.
• Visualize a closed red flower and simultaneously imagine the flower is opening slowly and slowly and flower is blooming in full radiating a very powerful energy.

2. Balancing Sacral Chakra: This chakra deals with feeling and sexuality. If the chakra is unbalanced and under-active, you tend to be unemotional and insensitive and do not open to anybody. Over-active chakra makes you over emotional and very sexual. Method of balancing Sacral Chakra is as under:
• Sit on your knees with back straight.
• Keep your hands in your lap with palms ups.
• Start breathing slowly and deeply.
• Concentrate on Sacral Chakra, in lower Abdomen about one or two inches below the Navel (Genitals) and chant sound “VAM”.
• Continue doing this until you are completely relaxed.

3. Balancing Solar Plexus Chakra: After this chakra is opened, you feel good and dignified in yourself otherwise you feel passive and indecisive. A person’s behavior is aggressive, if the said chakra is over-active. One can balance the Solar Plexus Chakra in the following way:
• Sit on knees, with back straight and feel relaxed.
• Keep your hands before your stomach, slightly below the solar plexus. Join fingers at the tops, all pointing away from you. Cross the thumbs and straighten the fingers.
• Start breathing slowly and deeply.
• Concentrate on the chakra which is slightly above the naval.

Chakra is associated with Peace, Love for self and others, caring, relationships, compassion, empathy, awareness, forgiveness, grief. If the chakra is under-active, one’s nature is unfriendly and cold. The overactive heart chakra leads to high blood pressure, palpitation and heart attack. Persons having unbalanced heart chakra live in fear, grief, anger, hatred and jealousy. So there is a need to balance the Heart Chakra for peaceful and healthy life which we can balance in the following way:-

After meditation you will feel energized, full of self love, self confidence and love for others.

Throat Chakra is associated with creativity, communication and self expression. Under active chakra makes the person feel low in self-esteem, shy, liar and unable to express properly. It is a very subtle chakra, and opening this chakra opens door to connect with our higher self. Crown chakra is also called Sahasrara – a bridge to the cosmos.
